On April 23 at 1300 UTC, the Permanent Secretariat of the Community of Democracies, in cooperation with the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance-International IDEA and the Open Government Partnership will host “Towards a Summit for Democracy,” a forum that “will bring together high-level representatives of the three convening organizations, who will share lessons learned from their ongoing work to support democracy worldwide.” More information here

Ronald Glossop, Professor Emeritus at Southern Illinois University/Edwardsville, writes at PeaceVoice, “Humanity confronts many huge global problems: too much inequality within and between communities, the ever-greater possibility of more global pandemics, threatening global climate crises, and too much readiness to use violence at every community level. … Unfortunately for the world community this world federalist movement was pushed aside by the Cold War and struggles for dominant global power by some more powerful national governments.” Glossop says the world “desperately needs a resurgence of this movement.” Read full article
