The United Nations Association of the United States of America will host its “first ever all-virtual Global Engagement Summit February 19-20. We’re excited to welcome more participants than ever before to delve into the mission and work of the United Nations.” Speakers will include U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Chairman Gregory Meeks, UN Assistant Secretary-General Satya Tripathi, and Ralph Bunche of the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization.
International Criminal Court Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda said in a statement, “I welcome the arrest and transfer yesterday of the suspect, Mr Mahamat Saïd Abdel Kani (‘Mr Saïd’) to the International Criminal Court…to face justice for his alleged crimes as charged before the ICC. He is the third suspect arrested in the context of my Office’s ongoing investigations in the Central African Republic…and the first person to be arrested from the Séléka side to the conflict. On the basis of evidence collected in the course of my Office’s independent and impartial investigations, the prosecution alleges that Mr Saïd is criminally responsible for several counts of crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in CAR between April and November 2013.”
The Parliament of the World’s Religions has named a new Board of Trustees for 2021, including Former Islamic Circle of North America President Naeem Baig, Wiccan priestess Phyllis Curott, New England Sikh Study Circle founder Manohar Grewal, Buddhist Council of New York President James Lynch Jr., and Interfaith Center of New York Chair Kusumita Pedersen.
