Cosmas Milton Obote Ochieng has been named the Director of the Governance Center at the World Resources Institute. Ochieng, who comes to WRI from the African Development Bank, “will oversee a team focused on advancing good governance to address poverty, inequality and environmental degradation. Current priorities of the governance team include environmental rights, climate resilience, land rights, gender equity, energy access and more. The team includes experts based in the United States, India and Africa.”
The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women and the United Nations Volunteers program have introduced “the UN Women ‘Young Women Leaders’ (YWL) initiative. The YWL initiative will engage a diverse cohort of young women from the Global South who are committed to gender equality and women’s empowerment and to the mission and work of the United Nations. It will also allow the sharing of experiences among young leaders from diverse backgrounds across UN Women and further enhance diversity in UN Women’s personnel.” Application information is available online.
United Nations Association of the United States of America Youth Observer to the UN Dustin Liu writes, “It has been a core goal of my Youth Observer term to hear directly from young people how we should approach youth engagement with the United Nations.” Liu outlines the ” top takeaways” from his Youth Observer Listening Tour, “a coordinated effort to host 100+ small group conversations to connect with young people,” and says he looks forward “to elevating open access programs and opportunities as well as curating resources to support young people.”
